Meet our Pastor

Dr. T. David Phillips, Senior Pastor of First Baptist of Black Mountain, is committed to helping believers develop an authentic faith relationship with Christ and deep personal relationships with one another. David comes to Black Mountain with over 25 years of experience shepherding congregations in North Carolina. David has a heart for missions and for seeing the church actively engage with its community.
David was born in Gaffney, South Carolina and graduated from USC with degrees in Sociology and Biology. After feeling the call to ministry, David attended Southern Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky where he earned a Master’s of Divinity. Later, David earned a Doctorate of Ministry from Gardner-Webb University.
David is married to his high school sweetheart, Missy, who is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with Haywood County Schools. They have three wonderful daughters, Kate (23), Anna Grace (18), and Madalynne (10). When not at church or out in the community, David enjoys good food, time outside gardening or doing projects around the house, or finding “treasures” at flea markets or yard sales.
“My greatest joy is seeing someone come to a saving, personal relationship with Christ, “ says Dr. Phillips. David and the fellowship of FBC would love to have you come and be part of our “First Family” as we seek Christ and seek to make Him known. Contact our Pastor – pastor@fbcblackmountain.org
