  • Volunteering at and supporting the Swannanoa Valley Christian Ministry
  • Tutoring for Black Mountain Primary & Elementary students
  • Hospitality House – housing for Missionaries on leave
  • Community Garden
  • Hosting the Black Mountain Tailgate Market
  • Contributing to collections such as Operation Christmas Child, Easter Basket Ministry, Coal Country Backpacks
  • Local Disaster Relief
  • Hosting the annual SVCM Hunger Walk fundraiser, Fall Carnival for the Don Collins Early Learning Center, and others
  • Free Medical Supply Closet
  • Free Baby Equipment Supply Closet
  • Assisting Afghan refugee families in our area
  • We also financially support the Black Mountain Counseling Center (non-profit mental health organization providing sliding scale treatment), SVCM (providing financial assistance, job placement, job training, and educational advancement to those in need), Ministry of Hope (a chaplaincy program which raises funds to employ on-site chaplains at Swannanoa Correctional Center for Women) and we also support missions through the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, WNC Baptist Fellowship, and the NC Baptists.

Connect Through LIFE Groups

There are many ways to connect at First Baptist Church, but life groups may provide the best opportunity to get involved and deepen your experience in this congregation. We have groups that meet regularly throughout the year as well as short-term groups (4-8 weeks). Here are some of our current and upcoming small groups:

  • Sunday Bible Studies ~ Connect Groups (After the worship service; 11AM; All Ages)
  • Wednesday Night Bible Study (after the meal, approximately 6:15pm); meets in the Fellowship Hall downstairs; TeamKID for K-5th
  • Women on Mission is a missions discipleship group designed to equip adult women to become active disciples of Christ as they live on mission for Him. Meets the first Tuesday of the month at 10:30am in the Parlor.
